Augur 4: Requirements

Operating System

Both the Augur server code is cross-platform, and developed as one code-base, so all platforms are equally current.

Server

Currently tested and supported:

  • Solaris
  • Linux
  • Mac OS X
  • Windows

Client

The Augur client uses Java Web Start technology, which auto-installs and auto-updates the Augur application, so installation and maintenance is minimal.

Currently tested and supported:

  • Windows
  • Mac OS X
  • Linux
  • Solaris

Hardware

Since Augur is multi-threaded, it can take advantage of multiple CPUs.

Server

A multi-CPU server is highly recommended; at least 1GHz per CPU. 512Mb of memory, reserved for Augur is required; 1Gb is recommended.

Available disk space minimum: 1Gb; more recommended for large log archives. (Log sizes vary greatly, but a rule of thumb is 100Gb per year of storage.)

Client

A single or dual-CPU client is recommended; at least 1GHz per CPU. 64Mb of memory, reserved for Augur is required; 256Mb is recommended. Available disk space minimum: 50Mb
