Augur 4: Handlers

Real-time Plug-in

Augur's "Handler" system is a live plug-in technology. Handlers can be added and reconfigured real-time without downtime.

Efficient Power

Since handlers are called only at appropriate trigger times, CPU resources are not wasted. (Traditional event managers implement "triggers" by repeatedly polling entire event databases externally, looking for something to do.) Augur calls handlers in-line, exactly when they need to be involved.

Flow

Handlers interface directly within Augur's normal flow. The adjacent diagram illustrates some of Augur's event processing. The orange diamonds represent handler call-out points. Each call-out is specialized for a particular purpose, e.g. validation, paging, thresholding, etc.
